缺货的商品不必是死路

An unavailable product page still has a job to do. Someone arrived with a question, and the page can help them understand the situation without making promises it cannot support.

Explain the state clearly

Use a plain availability message and keep it close to the product choice. Distinguish an unavailable option from an unavailable product where the catalogue supports that distinction. Avoid presenting a disabled action without explaining why it cannot be used.

Offer relevant paths

An alternative should relate to the original need. A similar category, compatible option or useful guide can help someone continue. Keep the distinction between the original item and alternatives clear so navigation does not feel like an accidental substitution.

Be careful with expectations

Only present a notification or return-date feature when the information and workflow exist to support it. If the site cannot provide a reliable date, a clear explanation is better than an invented estimate. The quality of this state depends on honest content as much as the layout around it.
